1. Become a member
Become part of the Norfolk Tortoise Club from just £15 a year and join over 500 fellow tortoise enthusiasts who share a passion for responsible tortoise ownership and welfare. Your membership helps fund our rescue, rehabilitation, education and conservation work, allowing us to continue helping tortoises in need and promoting the highest standards of care. As a member, you’ll enjoy exclusive benefits while becoming part of a growing community making a real difference.

2. Donate
Your support helps us rescue, rehabilitate, and promote the welfare of tortoises. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a lasting difference. Choose to make a one-off donation or set up a regular monthly gift of any amount. You can change or cancel your donation at any time.
£10 – Pays for a home check visit
£20 – Funds a tortoise starter care pack, including calcium supplements, seeds, care sheets, dried flowers, multivitamins, Tamodine soap, and a temperature probe.
£40 – Provides a specialist tortoise lamp for 1 year.
£50 – Covers the cost of one veterinary health check.
£100 – Pays for essential medication for a tortoise in our care.
£150 – Covers the cost of diagnostic imaging, such as an X-ray and/or ultrasound, for a tortoise requiring specialist treatment.
£500 – Contributes towards the annual maintenance costs of our tortoise centre.
£1,000 – Pays for approximately three months of electricity and water at our tortoise centre.
£5,000 – Helps fund the construction of a new specialist building at our tortoise centre.
As a thank you for your generosity, donors and sponsors who contribute above a qualifying amount are eligible to receive Lifetime Membership of the Norfolk Tortoise Club.
3. Fundraise
Whether you’re taking on a challenge, hosting an event, or celebrating a special occasion, every pound you raise helps us care for tortoises in need. We’ll support you every step of the way and help promote your fundraiser through platforms such as JustGiving or GoFundMe, making it easy for friends, family, and colleagues to get involved. 4. Leave a legacy
By leaving a gift in your Will, you can create a lasting legacy for tortoises for generations to come. Legacy gifts help us plan for the future, improve our facilities, expand our rescue work, and provide life-saving veterinary care and rehabilitation. If you wish, you or your family can choose how your gift is used—whether it’s funding a new building, supporting a specific rescue project, or helping cover the veterinary costs of a tortoise in need. As a lasting tribute, we’ll honour your generosity with a commemorative plaque, creating a permanent living memory of your support.
5. Gift essentials & fundraising items
We welcome a variety of donated items from unwanted gifts, to tortoise essentials and consumables, to hand-crafted gifts. We are particularly need:

7. Volunteer
Our volunteers are the heart of the Norfolk Tortoise Club. Whether you can help at events, assist with tortoise care, support fundraising, or lend your professional skills, there’s a place for everyone. However much time you can give, you’ll be making a valuable contribution to tortoise welfare while becoming part of a friendly and passionate team.
We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, and of all experience levels. Whether you want to learn more, or apply your skills to help out, there is something for everyone at the club.
Areas you could work in:
- Routine Tortoise Care – Feeding, bathing, collecting wild tortoise food, cleaning enclosures and settling tortoises for the night. Full training is provided.
- HQ Maintenance – Building enclosures, general maintenance, gardening and helping keep our facilities running smoothly.
- Veterinary Support – We’re always keen to collaborate with veterinary practices and students. We can provide CPD opportunities and welcome help with health checks, worming and microchipping at events.
- Events – Help welcome visitors, assist with health checks, run stalls, or support the smooth running of our shows and events.
- Event Preparation – Help prepare goodie bags, organise equipment, or assist with setting up and taking down marquees.
- Administration & Social Media – Assist with data entry, website content, writing promotional material, photography, video creation or managing our social media channels.
All our volunteers have access to exclusive socials, meals and days out. Fill in the expression of interest form and attend one of our taster days to see how you’d fit into our team.
Please note that during our busiest months, we may temporarily pause recruitment but we’ll keep your details on file and contact you when opportunities become available. We are in critical need for volunteers who can give regular hours. For insurances purposes, we require all volunteers to be members of the club.
8. Promote us
Do you know a community focused business that may be able to…

If so, please get in touch and we will provide you with a request template. Printable event flyers can be found on the event pages, or you can collect a batch from us.
9. Recommend us
Know someone thinking about getting a tortoise? Please encourage them to consider adoption. Our rescue is often at full capacity, and we’re always looking for loving, permanent homes. Every adopter receives expert guidance throughout the adoption process, along with a lifetime of ongoing support from the Norfolk Tortoise Club.
