Our 2018 AGM will take place on Sunday 18th November between 11am- 2pm. We need as many members to attend as possible to confirm quorate and validate the election.
Free entry for all attendees! Election formalities will take place followed by presentation/ picture report on the clubs achievements from 2018. It will be the last chance to stock up on club shop for winter (please email in advance if you would like something specific). We can also answer your hibernation questions. Membership sign up and renewal will be available on the door.

Invitation for 2018/2019 Committee Member Nominations
Annual General Meeting Sunday 18th November 2018
The Norfolk Tortoise Club Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at our end of year event on Sunday 18th November. The event runs from 11am-2pm, the AGM activities are expected to take no more than an hour. There will also be a presentation on the groups work over the previous year.
At the AGM the current committee will step down and a new committee will be elected.
Paid Members are now (Oct 2018) invited to submit their nominations to stand on the new committee which runs 2018/2019.
Committee members make decisions concerning club activities, and carry out activities approved at committee meetings e.g. organising our events.
Criteria for committee nominees:
- You must have attended a minimum of 2 club nights or volunteer activities in the last 12 months
- You must be 18 years old or older
- You must be a current paid member
- You must be seconded/ backed by an existing member of committee.
The committee is made up of the following positions: Treasurer, Secretary, Chair and up to 7 General Members.
Committee members will stand for one year, and members can stand more than once if re-elected. In the event of multiple candidates for a single post then club members can vote for their preferred candidate in a secret/ blind ballot. Club members must be physically present to vote.
Must be received by the club by 12:00 midday on Friday 16th November 2018.

Club Constitution and Charity Status
An ammended constitution was voted in by a majority vote at the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Saturday 23rd September 2017.

On the 28th September 2017 Norfolk Tortoise Club officially registered as a charity under number 1174886.
The committee meets as necessary to discuss the running of the club. Paid members are also welcome to attend these meetings, submit items for discussion and view copies of the minutes taken. Please contact us for further information.

Membership costs £10 for 12 months. Paid members receive a 10% discount off one club shop transaction and FREE entry to our Hethersett Hall events, other benefits are also being explored. Please contact us if you would like to join the club or see the membership stall at one of our events. Members are able to stand for election and join the committee.
All members are expected to abide by the clubs Code of Conduct.
Become a Committee Member
Members are able to stand for election at our Anual General Meeting, applications will be accepted 6 weeks before. If you are interested in standing you may wish to attend a committee meeting to see what is involved. All potential candidates will need the backing of a current serving Committee member.
The committee may have vacant posts throughout the year if committee members need to resign due to other commitments. If you would like to apply for a vacant post please make yourself known to the club.
